ABOUT ABOUT

Here, All Dwell Free (Or, The Handless Maiden-- A Modern-Ancient Epic) tells the tale of a maiden whose father sells her to the devil in exchange for wealth and convenience. Our production is grounded in the aesthetics of access, where the maiden's world is explored through a visual and gestural vernacular rooted in American Sign Language (ASL) with closed captions in English. The production is brought to life by an international ensemble of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Hearing folx scattered around New York University (Steinhardt, Tisch Drama, College of Arts and Sciences), throughout the country, and across the continent.

The show was virtually rehearsed, pre-recorded, and edited and will be available for on-demand streaming from June 3 through June 7. A link to access the video will be provided in your ticket confimation. Transcripts are available upon request. If you have any questions or issues, please contact [email protected]

On the first & last streaming days, Norah Matthews (Director of Artistic Sign Language) will host post-show conversations with members of the cast & creative team. To join us, please watch the show and attend the Zoom webinar on Thursday, June 3rd (8:30PM ET) and/or Monday, June 7th (8:30PM ET), both at this link: https://nyu.zoom.us/s/98740291988.

The show itself runs 60 minutes.
